How Does a Y Type Pneumatic Control Valve Work?
The Y Type Pneumatic Valve uses a pneumatic actuator — either spring-return or double-acting — to move the valve stem. As compressed air is supplied to the actuator, it pushes the stem to adjust the flow area through the Y-shaped valve body.
The 45-degree seat angle provides a smooth, unobstructed flow path with lower pressure drop and reduced erosion on trim components, while pneumatic actuation delivers fast, accurate stem movement. Spring-return actuators ensure fail-safe positioning, and double-acting types offer stronger thrust for high-pressure service.
The valve plug position directly controls the flow area, enabling accurate regulation of flow rate, upstream pressure, and downstream pressure. Optional visual or electronic position indicators confirm valve status for safe and monitored operation.
