Choose by Body Style
End connection is usually the first decision, because it's the one that's hardest to change after the pipework is welded up.
Wafer Type
Sandwiched between two pipe flanges on the through-bolts, no flange of its own. Cheapest option, most common in water and general utility lines where you'll never need to isolate one side only.
Lug Type
Threaded lugs let you unbolt one side of the pipe and leave the valve holding pressure on the other — useful on dead-end service or any branch you service often.
Flanged (Double Flange)
Full flanges on both ends, bolted directly into the line like a standard valve. Heavier, more expensive, but the standard choice above DN300 or on higher-pressure duty.

Beyond wafer/lug/flanged, the disc-and-seat geometry is where the price gap between a basic valve and a KITZ spherical disc unit comes from.

Wafer is cheaper and fine if you'll never need to isolate just one side of the line. Lug costs more but lets you unbolt and remove downstream piping without draining the whole line — worth it on dead-end service or anything you service often.
